If you are an avid reader of the IL Blog, you can probably guess that one of my favorite topics is Art and Creative Expression. Coincidentally, The Kaplan University Center for General Education, your “one-stop shop” for exciting trends and ideas in general education, focuses on topics such as these on a monthly basis.
During an artful frolic through the site, I happened upon a “must see ” video presentation by Gina Quesinberry and Kenneth Cline entitled The Marriage of Math and Art . Some intriguing points of interest mentioned are how patterns in Mozart’s compositions are compared to mathematical symmetry of rotation, the Golden Ratio and Mozart’s musical dice game or Musikalisches Würfelspiel. Can you believe there is an app for that?
