Kevin Kelly, former editor of the “Whole Earth Review” and “Wired” magazine, gave an interesting TED talk a few years back. You may not agree with him, but he does present an interesting and reasoned framework for technology as an evolutionary process in his talk “How Technology Evolves.” Not an unfolding of history like in an overarching Hegelian schema, but having similarities to the biological unfolding of evolution. In any case, it is worth a watch:
