Screenr – Like Jing with a Twitter Connection

I love Jing by TechSmith. I use it almost every day. But I wanted to let folks know about other screencasting tools out there. The one I want to cover today is Screenr by Articulate.

Screenr squarely jumps on the Twitter band-wagon. Screencasts that are created with Screenr can be immediately posted as a tweet. I don’t think that is a game-changer for me, but it is pretty neat.

However, Screenr does do something that I like a lot: its screencasts are also rendered as movies that can play on my iPod Touch. So if I were using Tweetdeck on my iPod and someone tweeted a link to a Screenr screencast I could watch it immediately on my iPod. That is very cool and will push others to follow suit, I hope.

Here is a little JingCast I did about how to use Screenr.

  1. Shouldn’t it be a Screenr, not a Jing?

  2. Hey Will,
Thanks for introducing everyone to screenr. I’ve been using it for about 3 months now and even used it for my podcast to students at the beginning of this term. It’s a great, simple tool to implement into online courses.
