Yesterday we had the opening of IL Greenhouse for KUVillage, today we had our opening preconference workshop, and on Monday the KU Village conference kicks off officially. (And not to mention that the very exciting KHE Forum is Friday!)
Busy and interesting days for KU faculty and staff all over the country!
I wanted to do a few shout-outs for Innovations Lab Fellows who will be presenting next week:
Will (me): Monday, October 5th at 1pm ET: “Village Elders: On the Trope of Digital Natives and Immigrants versus the Reality of Online Leadership” — It is a bit more of a conceptual and analytical than I usually get, but I won’t be able to help myself because I also plan demo a few things too. And you will not soon forget the first three slides that I present! 🙂
Ellen M: Tuesday, October 6th at 4pm ET: “Teacher Toolbox: Seven Steps for Building Better Classroom Communities.” Ellen also has brought her enthusiasm for communities to the faculty by being the host for our monthly IL GEM sessions. I can’t wait to hear her thoughts in this presentation.
Holli VS: Tuesday, October 6th at 8pm ET: “Using Open Educational Resources to Supplement and Improve Student Learning.” Holli has been a sustaining and active member of the Innovations Lab Fellowship Program for a long time. Her original research was about social networking with students using Ning — which continues grow. I has been interesting to watch Holli’s interests evolve, develop and grow!
Ellen M, Laurie P-D and Julieta B: Wednesday October 7th at 2pm ET: “All Aboard! Virtual Field Trip: Innovative and FREE fun in your KU live seminars!” IL Fellow Ellen teams up with CTL Faculty Development Coordinator Laurie, and Professor Julieta, this time. I can’t wait to see what they have cooked up for us!
Doug B: Thursday October 8th at 6PM ET: “Capturing Reusable Learning Objects With Jing & Camtasia.” Long standing IL Fellow Doug B. has been good ‘counsel’ and a leader during the infancy of the Innovations Lab and its growth over the last year. And have you seen his movie in the Greenhouse? Go look and you’ll want to go to his session!
I could also mention the keynote speakers who should be very good. And I would love to mention all the folks who are presenting who I am honored to consider as part of the IL network of friends, but the list would get too long!
Here is to a great conference, and I’ll see you on the web (at the Village Square!)
