Introducing the IL “Greenhouse”

justgreenhouse_smallIt gives me great pleasure to announce a new Innovations Lab initiative. For the KU Village 2009 (the CTL’s virtual conference October 5th through the 9th), the Innovations Lab will be hosting a virtual “exhibition” area which will showcase emerging technologies in the field of online education. We are calling it “The Greenhouse.: A Showcase of Emerging Technologies.”

What will make this extra special is that we want to include as many examples as possible from the work and teaching practice of our faculty!

We have brainstormed some technologies are likely to be showcased:

  • Jing
  • Animoto
  • VoiceThread
  • Personal Video (vimeo, viddler, youtube)
  • Podcasting
  • Prezi
  • Apture
  • Sliderocket
  • Slideshare
  • Metaplace
  • Yuuguu
  • Yugma
  • uStream.tv
  • Utterli
  • Seesmic
  • Stickam
  • YackPack
  • Zorap
  • Meebo
  • Flickr
  • Smugmug

If you don’t see your favorite technology, or your classroom innovation doesn’t quite fit in any of these categories, you still can submit your idea. (Note: The Greenhouse is a pilot program for KU Village 2009 virtual conference. Exhibits for the KU Village 2009 Greenhouse will be chosen at the discretion of the Innovations Lab and Center for Teaching and Learning staff.)

This will be a great opportunity to inspire and be inspired.

Please submit your exhibit ideas to Will deBock (wdebock@kaplan.edu) by August 31, 2009.
